Workplace Investigations

SERVICES

Linda G. Burwell formed National Investigation Counsel years ago to provide independent workplace investigations. She is a seasoned investigator focusing on matters involving c-suite and high-level individuals. She has conducted hundreds of investigations involving CEOs, presidents, CFOs, board members, owners of companies, and other executives. She is often retained/referred by national and regional employment law firms representing a wide variety of entities ranging from Fortune 100 Companies to prestigious non profits. Her investigations have spanned international borders, extending from the United States into Africa, Canada, England, Germany, Mexico, India and Thailand.

As a neutral third party who no longer litigates and who has no relationship to the people or parties involved and no vested interest in the outcome, Ms. Burwell is able to conduct a timely, effective and impartial investigation, gather the facts, assess the claims, effectively manage attorney/client privilege issues, and preserve outside counsel’s role in litigation. Ms. Burwell is able to maintain the integrity of the investigation, prepare a report, and testify at trial if required. She is media trained and savvy.

Often retained when an HR Executive is the alleged victim, alleged wrong doer, is a witness or is otherwise conflicted from conducting an independent and impartial investigation.

She is a nationally recognized employment law expert and is a frequent speaker/author/trainer on investigations, including presenting at the annual conference of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and faculty at the AWI Institutes. She is also a sustaining member of AWI.

A prompt, thorough and impartial investigation of employee complaints is often the best defense to many discrimination and retaliation charges and helps organizations identify and address problems at the earliest stages.
